13th Warrior

Written during the first weeks of September 98 for producer and co-director Michael Crichton after Graeme Revell's score was rejected. The music for The 13th Warrior is exactly the kind of miracle re-score Goldsmith is famous for. If you thought his replacement for Air Force One was impressive try this orchestral maelstrom. Just over 56 minutes of the heaviest Goldsmith orchestration and power house thematic material you could wish for. Action cues are not as complex as you might expect but then neither are the scenes in the movie. Goldsmith's score is perfectly judged and his theme is a dominating set piece.

Expanded review to follow.
