Second outing for director
Tamahori and composer Goldsmith for this prequel to Kiss The
Girls, recorded late in 2000 but delayed due to re-shoots.
Originally to have been scored by Basil Poledouris. An uncompromising thriller score lacking strong thematic material,
but compensated with some impressive work for electronics. Snare
drum rallies and deafening horn assaults highlight the strong
orchestral support and make a good contrast to the quieter moments,
in particular an unsettling piano solo highlight. A solid score
for the genre well represented on this Varese Sarabande CD.
