Contract On Cherry Street
A limited edition release
of this rare score from 1977. The last year Goldsmith would write
a TV Movie score, apart from his work on the TV Mini-series;
Masada. The film starred Frank Sinatra and was a turning
point for the medium, a TV movie with a big screen feel. Goldsmith
wrote a particularly dark thriller score, mirroring the 70s style
utilised for Capricorn One and Damien Omen II.
The score's strengths are some particularly harsh brass driven
action material (trombones, not trumpets) combined with a lazy
70's s jazz style. Along the way we have some classic Goldsmith
suspense and far too much inventiveness for a project of this
type ever deserved.
